Landscapes Unlimited’s Lost Rail Golf Club Named ‘Clubhouse of the Year’ | golfcoursetrades.com

Golf course developer and construction company Landscapes Unlimited’s Lost Rail Golf Club in Gretna, Neb. was voted “Clubhouse of the Year” by Golf Inc. Magazine.

It is the second award the year-old Lost Rail received from the magazine.  In June, it was named one of the world’s top three new private clubs.

Landscapes Unlimited’s project goal was to create a clubhouse that blends elegance with classic character.  Golf Inc. judges loved the achievement: “Beautifully appointed.  Such a warm and inviting space.  Lovely selections.”  Furthermore, “it’s a second home with a first-rate view.”

From afar, the 10,517 square-foot clubhouse resembles a 1920s home with chimneys, gables and dormers adorned in lime-washed brick.  Featuring 20-mile panoramas, it sits high on a bluff overlooking the Elkhorn and Platte rivers, gleaming during the day and striking in presence at night.

The interior presents a small number of elegant rooms which are easy to navigate, a formal dining room, boardroom, locker rooms, offices and a “killer” bar with massive windows.  The features are simple but timeless: fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, intricate crown molding, dark wood floors and vintage furniture. Windows are strategically placed throughout for natural sunlight.

Contentment Golf Club in North Carolina to feature course designed by Lester George | golfweek.usatoday.com

Golf course development company Landscapes Unlimited has joined with a third-generation property owner to break ground this week on the private Contentment Golf Club in Traphill, North Carolina.

Situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Contentment will feature a course layout by Lester George. A media release announcing the groundbreaking said the course will pay tribute to famous template holes established by C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor.

The club will span more than 800 acres and is located about an hour’s drive west of Winston-Salem and 90 minutes north of Charlotte.

Owner Curt Sidden spent time on the property with his late grandfather and plans to open the club Sept. 25, 2025, which will be the 100th anniversary of his grandparents’ wedding.

“Contentment is a tribute to my grandparents with whom I spent time here as a boy,” Sidden said in the media release.  “My family showed me the benefits of a quiet, uncomplaining and satisfied mind, and we hope Contentment is a true, tranquil haven for the body, mind and soul.”
